A little introduction about IB and the organization behind it
Being an academic program, International Baccalaureate (IB) helps students in preparing to gain access in colleges located around the world. The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) is the one that has been responsible for maintaining the discipline. The IBO is located in Geneva (Switzerland) and was established in circa 1968.
IBO is a not-for-profit organization that aims to offer the best course structure that is based on international standards. In addition, the approved course structure is adopted by many schools located in every nook and cranny of the globe. The entire course structure is divided on the basis of different age groups. The program is divided in three levels that are mentioned below.
- A three-year program for children studying in Kindergarten, grade 1, grade 2, grade 3, grade 4 and grade 5.
- Middle-year program for students studying from grade 6, grade 7, grade 8, grade 9 and grade 10.
- A special diploma program designed for students of grade 11 and grade 12.
The philosophy of how to learn rather than what to learn is preached and followed by the IB board. Such an approach makes the board different from rest of the conventional boards. The focus of the IB board is always upon practical learning rather than rote learning. The primary aim of IB is to let students apply the learned knowledge. The subjects included in the IB board help in the all-round development of the students. A few benefits of the course material studied by children under International Baccalaureate are mentioned below. Read on to know...
